Information for Current and Former Clients
Retainers/ Booking dates:

Until you have a signed copy of the cake contract from me, don't assume that you're
booked with me!  I do paperwork every weekend and send out copies of newly booked
contracts on Mondays, so if you sent me a retainer and have not received a copy of the
contract back by the end of the following week, please give me a call to make sure that I
received it.

When sending the contract back to hire me, please send back ALL the pages of the
contract, not just the last page with your signature. I need the entire contract because it
has all of the contact and design information on it. I will xerox it and send a copy back to
you.

If you had a tasting appointment with me, and then waited more than a few weeks to
decide whether to book with me, please check the calendar page on this site to see if
your date is still open. I can't hold dates without a retainer, so a tasting appointment is not
a guarantee that I'll be able to do a cake if you wait a long time to send a contract back.

If you are putting a retainer in the mail and would like to call or email and let me know,
that's great...I'll pencil you in for your date. However, the date isn't going to be officially
booked until I receive the signed contract and deposit your check. I'll give you a call if I
haven't received the retainer in about a week if there are other people asking about your
date just to check on whether it was sent. If you're getting a family member to send it, you
might want to double-check that they sent it, or make sure that I have your mailing
address to send a copy of the contract so that you can be sure that it was received.

Balance Payments

The balance for your cake is due three weeks before the wedding date. I'll send a bill for
the final amount due along with a checklist of information. If there's any information that
needs to be corrected you can let me know at that point. If you're not sure about your
guest count and need to wait to pay the balance until closer to the wedding date because
the size of the cake may need to be scaled up or down, just email or call and we can work
it out.

If you have any major changes that you want to make to the design of the cake please let
me know by three weeks beforehand. Depending on the changes I may need the time to
make extra gumpaste flowers, etc. Changes are fine up to three weeks before the date.

Please check your contract for specifics on payment deadlines and other restrictions.

Deliveries the Day of the Reception

I'll be delivering your cake between 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the reception start time. If
there are restrictions at the reception site that will require me to be there at another time,
please let me know. If your ceremony will be at the same location I'll be there about 1 1/2
to 2 hours before the ceremony starts. There may be times when my delivery schedule
requires that I be there outside of that time frame, but I'll work that out individually with the
people at your reception site.

I'll bring a box for the top tier of your cake so that they can box it for you. If you plan on
freezing the top tier, you should take off decorations like flowers or bows before you wrap
the tier.

Anniversary Cakes

If you have ordered an anniversary cake from me, or would like to order one,I will need
you to call me about 3 to 4 weeks before the date that you want to pick it up. It doesn't
have to be on your anniversary, just whenever you want to get it. I do not call you to
arrange this because a lot of brides move and change their last names after the wedding,
so it's too difficult for me to track people down. If you've moved out of the Richmond area
and can't pick up a cake that you ordered, I can either wait to make it for you on a
weekend that you might be visiting in town, or I could refund the purchase price to you. I
don't ship cakes, so you have to be in town to pick up the cake.
