Time Frame
You should start to look for a baker to make your wedding cake at least 6 to 10 months before your
wedding date. Don't wait until 3 to 4 months, as suggested in most wedding magazines, unless you are
going to hire someone who does a large volume of cakes per week. The more popular months for weddings
sometimes book up a year or more in advance, so keep that in mind as well. (Read this blog entry for more
thoughts about this:
How Soon Should I Book? ) I tend to book dates about 8 months to a year ahead of
time, but it depends on whether the date is in a busier month, etc. I've already had one request for a date in
2013, so it's never too soon!

BOOKING CAKES:

Because I like to be able to give a lot of personal attention to each cake that I make, I try to do no more than
two or three wedding cakes each weekend. I'm currently booking dates through the summer of 2011, and I
suggest booking earlier rather than later, whether you're hiring me or another professional. If I do have
cancellations I will post the available dates as they arise.
It's never too early to call and ask questions!

If you are being referred by another vendor, please call me directly at 754-2084 to check on
availability
and mention the referring vendor's name!!!!!

For 2010 I'm currently booked up through October. If your wedding is after that, these Saturdays are NOT
available: November 13, 27, December 25. For 2011, the following Saturdays are NOT available: January
15th, April 16th, May 7th and 21st, June 4.
Click here to find out about Friday and Sunday availability.

If you have had a tasting appointment with me and the list of unavailable dates above says that I am booked
for your date, please call to verify that I will still be able to do your cake before sending in a contract.

SAMPLES AND PLANNING APPOINTMENTS:

Please call me at 804-754-2084 or email to acaketoremember@yahoo.com to reserve a tasting
appointment time. I'll need to know your reception venue and start time before I schedule appointments in
order to make sure I'll be available to deliver your cake. The best time to call is Monday through
Wednesday, since I am working on wedding cakes from Thursday through Saturday.

Please limit the number of people at your tasting appointment to the bride and groom and one other person.
The more people, the more opinions, and the more difficult it is for the bride and groom to make decisions
about design, etc. I also ask that you don't bring children with you to this business meeting, unless it's a
baby that isn't walking yet.

I provide a basic menu of sampling cakes of my choice at each tasting appointment so that you can get a
feel for what my cakes taste like. Additional samples at a later date will incur an additional fee.

I try to be as accessible as possible based on baking and delivery schedules. However, please keep in mind
that due to the quality issue of not freezing cakes, I do not have sample cakes available at all times. If you
need to make an appointment with less than a week's notice I may not have samples for you to eat, but I
would be glad to sit with you and discuss your cake design. You could then pick up samples at a later date
to actually taste the cake.
My next available tasting appointments will be on August 8th and 28th.  Please email for
information. For info on how the appointments work, please read a description here
Tasting
Appts.

Appointments for tastings book up quickly, so a minimum of a couple of weeks notice is
recommended. Please check my online calendar to make sure your wedding date is available
before scheduling a tasting (see below).

Wedding dates and locations need to be definite before booking an appointment. I'm currently
booking dates through the end of 2011.
